In Ontario, the Vehicle Ownership Permit — the green slip issued by the Ministry of Transportation is the document that establishes your legal right to sell the vehicle. Every licensed auto recycler in the GTA will ask for it, no exceptions.
If yours is lost or damaged, a replacement is available through any ServiceOntario location or online. It’s worth doing before you arrange a pickup especially if you’re trying to get same-day scrap car removal. The name on the ownership must match your photo ID exactly. Even a minor name discrepancy, a middle name missing, an old address — can slow things down, so check it before pickup day.
One thing worth knowing: if the car was registered under a deceased family member’s name, the process involves a few extra steps through the estate. It’s manageable, but it’s not a same-day situation.
2. Valid Government-Issued Photo ID
